Including Separate Closure Element For Straddling Bag Mouth (i.e., Overlaps Exterior Portions Of Opposed Bag Walls) Patents (Class 383/78)
  • Patent number: 11345518
Abstract: A bag resealing device that is reusable for use with prepackaged bags to prevent spillage and/or aid in food preservation. The reusable nature of the bag resealing device is a result of a plurality of paired adhesive strips and the plurality of perforations wherein each pair of adhesive strips can be individually exposed to allow the bag resealing device to be attached to a different prepackaged bag. The perforations enable the bag resealing device to have the used paired adhesive strips to be torn off to allow the removal of the used pair of adhesives.

  • Patent number: 9090383
Abstract: In the manufacturing process for producing a package, a resealing tape strip is formed and applied to packaging film before any slits or cuts are made. A package opening slit is then cut into the packaging film from the opposite side of the film in the area of the tape strip but short of cutting into it. The tape strip has an adhesive layer coextensive with one side of the tape while adhesive deadening material is selectively printed in areas on the tape film web to produce a differential adhesive quality of the tape. The shape of the tape may be provided with a curved edge to enhance its function or for aesthetic reasons. The opening slit is preferably cut with a laser and may be cut into different shapes to affect the opening characteristics of the package.

  • Patent number: 5918983
Abstract: A security envelope for transporting valuable documents and articles includes a thin header formed of thin frangible material secured to the back panel having an adhesive layer that seals the header to the front panel upon folding and pressing closed. An inner layer of adhesive on the inner surface of the back panel seals the inner front and back panel surfaces to close the envelope chamber and extends further toward the envelope bottom than the header adhesive layer when sealed to prevent tampering tool access to the envelope chamber. Application of tampering heat will shrivel the header and cold sufficient to release the inner adhesive layer will cause pieces of the outer adhesive layer to break off and fall away. Printed indicia on the header inner surface and a transparent flood coat on the inner header surface will adhere to the header adhesive layer and aid in the tampering attempt indication.

  • Patent number: 5823685
Abstract: A bag closure is provided for containing flowable material such as powdered cement and mortar. The closure includes loosely folded, overlapping end flaps which are secured together by an overlying peel-away sheet. Where the bag is to be filled with moisture sensitive materials, the peel-away sheet is preferably impermeable to water vapor and forms a vapor barrier closure. The peel-away sheet, which preferably controls the moisture content within the bag during storage, includes a graspable tab that is used to peel the sheet at least partially away from the loosely folded flaps of the bag. An end tuck of the bag may then be unfolded to provide a pour spout for the contents of the bag. The closure eliminates the need for prior art pull strings or sewn ends which are not easy to open and which do not adequately resist moisture penetration.

  • Patent number: 5480030
Abstract: A reusable, evacuable enclosure comprising a bag with an opening in which to place compressible articles, such as clothing or linen, and a one-way valve in a surface of the bag. Compressible articles may be placed in the bag and sealed from the surrounding environment by placing a seal across the opening. The excess air in the bag may then be removed by placing a cylindrical attachment of a household vacuum cleaner over the one-way valve. Once the excess air is extracted, a cap is placed over the valve to ensure a permanent seal. Removal of excess air reduces the size of the compressible article and inhibits the growth of insects and bacteria, which may damage the contents of the bag. Moreover, the enclosure is impervious to moisture, and so inhibits the growth of mildew.

  • Patent number: 5217307
Abstract: This invention provides tamper-safety labeling that can easily be applied to a container and closure means to disclose the opening of the container. This labeling is a single piece one that has a generally parallel perforated tear strip and tab formed from the face stock and that allows the tear strip and usually perforated member to be formed and laminated to a release liner having a release thereon at least commensurate with adhesive positioned in the laminate on each side of the tear strip in the face stock. Also, the tear strip may run at any angle from the horizontal plane of the container to permit the tear strip to be removed to present different arrangements of the labeling on the container and may become a product or origin identification for the container.
