Abstract: A rail or grooved rail having upper and lower parts made of different materials, the upper part having a head and being made of a water-resistant material, and the lower part being made of structural steel, and wherein the lower part of the rail is a profile element having a web or a flat element forming a web.
Abstract: Provided is a grooved rail for rail vehicles having flanged wheels, the grooved rail including a rail head provided with a running rail, a flange groove, and a counterrail, in addition to a rail web, a rail base, and lateral rail chambers extending between the rail head and the rail base. The running rail includes an asymmetrically-arranged vehicle-guiding flange, extending towards the flange groove, the asymmetrically-arranged flange formed in such a way that the width part of the rail base, on the side of the running rail, is larger than the width part on the side of the counterrail by a factor of at least 1.2. When the depth of the flange groove is >20 mm, the flange has a flange inclination of >78° with respect to an essentially horizontal axis of the rail web.
Abstract: A magnetized rail for improving the adhesion between the rail and the steel wheels of a rail car will help prevent skidding of the rail car when decelerating from a high speed. The rail is split with an air gap in the rail head and a electromagnet coupled between the split webs of the rail.
Abstract: Disclosed is an a.c. electric railway power distribution system comprising an a.c. busbar having at least first and second a.c. busbar sections electrically isolated by a non-energized busbar. Each of a.c. busbar sections is capable of having at least one electric train electrically connected thereto as the train moves along a railway track. A first single phase a.c. power supply is operably connected to the first a.c. busbar section and a second single phase a.c. power supply is operably connected to the second a.c. busbar section. An a.c. to d.c. electronic power converter is provided having an input operably connected to the first a.c. busbar section, and having an output operably connected to a d.c. busbar. A d.c. to a.c. electronic power converter is also provided having an input operably connected to the d.c. busbar and having an output operably connected to the second a.c. busbar section.
Abstract: A concrete sleeper for track systems incorporating electrical circuitry, in which sleeper electrically conducting cables are embedded, and therefore concealed therein, with an assembly to allow electrical connection between the cables and associated tracks and associated track side circuitry. In order to obtain connection to the track side circuitry a recess is provided in one end of the sleeper and receives a terminal box having contacts for contacting exposed ends of the embedded cables and connections within the terminal box are in turn connected to the track side circuitry. In order to achieve an electrical connection with the tracks the cables are connected, within the sleeper, to embedded parts of shoulders of rail fastening assemblies of the type marketed under the name PANDROL.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a rail intended to constitute a tread for heavy duty rolling stock, such as gantry cranes, mounted on wheels or rollers and concerns more specifically a guide rail on which both center-flange wheels or rollers, and lateral-flange wheels, as used on railway lines roll, comprising, in section, two integrally formed spaced heads running parallel to each other, the two heads having vertical inner side walls and being separated by a horizontal intermediate channel whose bottom constitutes a horizontal connecting strip.
