Abstract: One or more battery-operated fans are integrated into a hard hat and pull air through a filter to remove contaminants in the air. The filtered air passes through one or more channels in the hard hat and exits the hard hat through an air curtain exit located near the user's face. The exiting air leaves with sufficient velocity to form an air curtain. A user wearing goggles or other protective eyewear will have the filtered air current pass in front of the eyewear. Paint and other contaminant particles that are in the air will not be able to contact the outer surface of the eyewear, as the particles will not be able to pass through the curtain of filtered air.

  • Patent number: 9877532
Abstract: The present application includes an assembly having a head unit and a control unit. The head unit is worn on the head of a worker and is configured to induce a convective cooling effect upon the worker. The control unit is in communication with the head unit to permit the worker to operate and adjust the various functions of the head unit. The head unit includes a motorized fan which pulls air into a central cavity within the head unit and blows it through one or more ports. The ports provide multiple directions for routing the airflow. An optional sleeve may be used in combination with one of the ports to route airflow away from the head of the worker.

Abstract: A device enables a wearer to obtain a personal zone of cooling effect. Specifically, a headwear is provided that incorporates a stabilizing and aerating platform to house and support an array of photo-voltaic cells that in turn power strategically placed and positionable personal variable speed fans. The device anticipates and counters the power decreases typically encountered by photo-voltaic cells when operating in elevated temperatures. The present invention, and also provides dual modality of use to provide a smaller photo-voltaic cell array in situations where a sacrifice in power is acceptable relative to a sizing of the device.

  • Patent number: 9756888
Abstract: A soft headgear is provided. The soft headgear includes a soft outer layer, an inner liner layer formed from an air permeable material, a rigid substructure disposed between the soft outer layer and the inner liner layer, an active ventilation system located at the crown of the soft headgear, and a power supply operably coupled to the active ventilation system. The rigid substructure includes a plurality of ribs extending radial from a crown of the soft headgear to a ring of the rigid substructure, thereby forming air conduction pathways. The active ventilation system exhausts air drawn in through the ring of the rigid substructure and out through the crown of the soft headgear. The power supply provides power for the active ventilation system.
