Abstract: A turning plowing device 1 with blade-like cutting elements 3 situated on both sides of a plow beam 2 is provided, in which at least one first cutting element 4 on one side, having a hollow disc-like design, is provided. This first cutting element 4 is swivelably arranged, and may be swiveled from a first position on a first side of the plow beam 2 into a second position. In the first position, the second cutting element 3 is associated with a respective first cutting element 4 in such a way that a complete module made up of these two cutting elements is formed. A row of second cutting elements 3 formed at the plow beam 2 represents semi-modules, which likewise form a complete module only after the respective first cutting elements 4 swivel into the corresponding working position. Plowing takes place only using a formed complete module.

Abstract: The present inventors aimed to identify the gene responsible for the temperature-sensitive male sterility trait in “PL12” and to provide a method for producing conditional male sterile plants targeting the gene, and performed whole genome sequence analysis on “PL12” and the original variety thereof to compare the two. As a result, it was found that there was a deletion of about 150 kb in “PL12” chromosome 7. Then, as for this region, six types of partial deletion lines were produced by genome editing, and the presence or absence of the temperature-sensitive male sterility trait in each line was used as an index to successfully narrow the range, containing the responsible mutation, down to about 10 kb. Furthermore, as a result of creating a line with genome editing-disrupted functions of the two genes located in this region, the gene responsible for the temperature-sensitive male sterility trait was successfully identified.

Abstract: The present invention relates to novel methods for increasing recombination so that the resulting plant or plant material has an increased rate of recombination. In particular, the present invention provides methods for increase of recombination in agricultural plants. Increased recombination is achieved by a controlled temperature treatment by aligning meiosis progression in a specific treatment window to macroscopically or microscopically detectable characteristics. Furthermore, the methods described herein are also useful to shift meiotic recombination to regions in the genome which usually show a reduced amount of recombination. The resulting plants can for example be used to introduce new genetic variations into breeding pools and breeding populations, as the methods can be performed without a significant loss in fertility usually going along with uncontrolled heat/cold treatments.

Abstract: Provided here are methods of using a mutated patatin-like phospholipase II? (“pPLAII?,” renamed here MATRILINEAL) to induce haploid induction in plants, cloning a pPLAII? to induce haploid induction in plants, and genetically engineering a plant to contain a mutated pPLAII?. Also provided are methods of applying topical and spray chemicals, lipids, and RNAi molecules to plants during pollination in order to induce haploid production. Further provided are methods of chemically treating plants during pollination to induce haploids while also reducing embryo abortion and increasing seed set.
